Aussie Curves: Mixed Patterns.

Aussie Curves: Mixed Patterns.

This was an exceptionally difficult theme for me; I stood in front of my wardrobe for about 30 minutes looking at different options. I have lots of lace, a few floral pieces, and even a few pieces with some little prints on them, but none of them are remotely in the same colour range! I decided to use layering, since lace looks brilliant on top of ANYTHING. Seriously. It is the best motif ever – next to batik.

Stripes go underneath!

I first started the outfit with a dress I bought from Torrid during my USA trip in 2011. It is the comfiest jersey dress, with a racer back and a skull print in pinks and blues on the front. Whenever I wear this dress, I remember Disneyworld because I wore it on an exceptionally hot summers day in the Magic Kingdom theme park.

Then you put some lace on top.

Next, I put some lace on top of that in the form of a maxi dress I purchased from Torrid during the same USA trip. I was planning on using the Seraphim Lace Slouch Maxi, but I felt the thin straps and large arm holes would just make the striped dress underneath overpower the lace. As you can see, lace works to help subdue loud colours and crazy prints!

Finally, the Hippie Chiffon Maxi!

I topped the outfit with the Seraphim Hippie Chiffon Maxi. I’m not usually someone who liked to wear a top layer that covers my back or arms during summer because I am very sensitive to heat but the chiffon is the perfect fabric for people like me. The whole outfit is bohemian and feminine but with an edge that I’ve always felt surrounds all of my outfit choices. I kind of feel like some buxom madame!
